Regarding Docket 9697-CE-100 – Badger Hollow Solar Farm
Dear Public Service Commission:
As residents of Wisconsin, we ask you to approve the Badger Hollow Solar Farm. The project will be a critical step forward in advancing affordable, clean energy in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin electric utilities are retiring fossil-fuel power plants, and creating space for new renewable generators to fill in the gaps. The Badger Hollow Solar Farm will have the capacity to generate low-cost, emission-free electricity for 77,000 Wisconsin homes.
The Energy Priorities Law, adopted in 1994, states that “[i]t is the goal of the state that, to the extent that it is cost-effective and technically feasible, all new installed capacity for electric generation in the state be based on renewable energy resources ….” Wis Stats. 1.12(3)(b). The Badger Hollow Solar Farm easily satisfies those two conditions and will significantly expand renewable generation in Wisconsin.
Please approve this project in accordance with the Energy Priorities Law.
Thank you.
The Badger Hollow Solar Farm is a 300 megawatt project proposed in Iowa County in Southwest Wisconsin. The project would be the largest solar farm in the Midwest, capable of supplying home-grown, affordable, emission-free electricity to 77,000 homes. If approved, the Badger Hollow Solar Farm would quadruple solar generating capacity over today’s levels, and begin producing clean power before 2021. Want to learn more?
